Combination Butt and Thimble Stripping Presses

Our Combination Butt and Thimble Presses utilize extremely heavy duty construction to suit the application. Our combination presses are designed to remove both the Carbon Butt and the Cast Iron Thimble from the Stubs in a single operation. The Carbon and Thimbles normally remain together as a product stream until the completion of primary crushing where the thimbles are normally separated from the carbon stream by means of magnetic separation.

Combination presses are available to suit all anodes from single pin up to six pin. Convienent and clean material handling is achieved by discharging removed material into closed chutes to exit conveyors.

Butt Stripping Presses

When process conditions do not permit the use of a Combination Press, our dedicated Butt Presses can be used to strip the carbon butt from the stubs. The Butt Presses are designed to break the Carbon Butt from below, thereby breaking the carbon away from the cast thimbles which greatly reduces the number of thimbles being stripped compared with alternative press designs.

The Butt Presses incorporate the same proven technology as our Combination Presses.

Thimble Stripping Presses

Our Thimble Presses are designed to remove the Cast Iron Thimble from the Steel Stubs.

  • Units are available from 50 to 400 tons capacity to remove any shape of thimble.
  • Thimble Presses are designed to accommodate all rod styles from single pin to six pin.
  • High productivity to suit operating requirements, with cycle times as low as 15 seconds.
